I love this company ! just ordered yesterday pure cotton organic jeans for $72.00, great !!! Look very chic and comfortable. As a customer and yoga teacher I support Natural Clothing Company at 100%. Please support organic and sustainable clothing. Do your part !
I got my package and everything fits…good call on tee!! I really like the mauve salal tank, too. And thanks for the market bag…I will definitely use it! I really like this one because it is large but lightweight. I usually keep a canvas bag folded in the pocket of my diaper bag when I’m out shopping, but all of the bags I have now are bulky so this one will be perfect.
Alternative fibers
soy plantSoy - solution or enemy

Value and Health:

Soy is durable and strong. Soy fiber's breaking strength is few times better than that of wool, cotton or silk
Soy has natural wicking properties and good absorbency, better or equal to cotton. It provides better ventilation than cotton, resists perspiration, dries quickly
It retains warmth very well. There is no shrinkage, it does not wrinkle.
Soy has anti-bacterial qualities. It also is sunlight resistant, offers UV protection.
Some claim that soy's natural amino acids have a positive health effect on the wearer's skin. Soy clothing is a vegetable competitor to silk, making it excellent choice for vegans.

soy fashionFashion:           Soy has the most luxurious appearance of all plant fibers. Fabric is soft, smooth and light. It has fantastically elegant draping abilities, making it a very flattering choice. It has a soft feel of cashmere. It is easy to care for, no dry cleaning necessary.

Environment:    Soy is a natural by-product of normal food production - soybeans, tofu, soy milk. It is a renewable resource, which can be grown organically and is naturally biodegradable. It requires no pesticides to grow and is often used to sow fields to replenish nutrients in the soil. Manufacturing is done through wet-spinning. The liquid soy is solidified to make soybean fiber.   The final product,  the fiber is then used to create sustainable clothing.  The remaining raw material, bean dregs, after having their protein extracted, can be used as feed or fertilizer.

All auxiliaries used in production of soybean fiber are of a harmless nature, and they are recyclable making the production process a closed end process.

Why any controversy about soy?

Soybeans even though not natively so, became in the last decade one of the "biotech food" crops: genetically modified and being used in an increasing number of products. In 1995 Monsanto introduced Roundup Ready (RR) soybeans, not sensitive to glyphosate. (read information about glyphospahte on page re: organic cotton).

In 1997, about 8% of all commercial soybeans in the U.S. were GMO. In 2006, the figure was 89%. This is a huge concern! In European Union, there is, rightfully so, total reluctance to use US soybeans.

The soybean byproducts for our clothing does not come from U.S. and to our knowledge is not genetically modified. Organic soy fibers are very environmentally friendly and a great choice for the fashion industries for sustainable clothing. Natural Clothing Company will continue seeking manufacturers who practice sustainable organic methods and ideally are able to obtain organic certifications for their products.

 OTHER FIBERS

As this planet is endangered by human activities, the urgency for efficient,  more sustainable an eco-friendly solutions is growing. In textile industry there is a lot of experimentation with exotic to textiles fibers like banana leaves, wood, corn sugar, even milk protein and more. Very few of these are completely straight forward. Each "solution" has to consider the plants characteristics, crops requirements, how they leave the soil, what does it take to sustain them, what manufacturing process - what chemicals are used and if mechanical process what energy input is needed, what happens to the products at its life end, even if reused many times? Big value energy wise, as well as for economic and emotional reasons - where the products are created. The reluctance of buying products from oversees is well understood. We are proud to carry 100% USA organic cotton products. On the other hand refusing a reasonable solution if it comes from China for example - may be a vanity we can no longer afford.

earth eco-friendlyWe have one planet for all of us, we need solutions, which work for all of us. We are all in it together. Majority of all the world's crops are by now "conventional", which means they are sprayed mercilessly with health endangering chemicals. That's true for China, as well as South America, Europe and U.S. Some are just worse than others. The animal kingdom, necessary to sustain the plant life is struggling to survive. At this point many basic crops like corn, cotton, soybeans are 70, 80 or 90% genetically modified to withstand chemicals and accumulated toxins affects human health. At this high percentage of GMO we are probably at point of no return on these crops.

In our views, we need to work fast  and smart. Not be affected too much by bias and personal hobby horses. We need to consider all solutions and all compromises to achieve the best and most practical reversal of damage done. Personally, we live on a small organic farm, next to acres of woods, far away from sprays and cell towers but we still know that being totally pure and totally organic might exist only in our imagination any more. Living without refrigerators or walking everywhere, as some suggest,  might be healthy but is not going to work for all. It will not save the planet, either. Corn forks and bags are compostable but made from GMO corn. Electric car batteries save energy but emanate more radiation than many cell phones. Wireless technology allows you to read this but interferes with your native body frequencies. We are all in it together.

For Natural Clothing Company, we focus on finding out and relating to you the information about natural fibers, so you can make your own informed decision and provide honest choices of clothing. We welcome you to voice your viewpoints and concerns right here or in our blog. We'll be happy to print it. With each tiny change for the better, each of us reinforces the path in better direction.
